Makelab network community member, Doron Koren, a renowned serial high-tech entrepreneur with a substantial track record of registering numerous patents and receiving international awards for innovation, delivered an insightful lecture on patents on April 17, 2023. This engaging session attracted participants both online and in person from the maker community in Ghana, Abuja, and Israel.
During the lecture, Koren delved into captivating patent cases from around the world, some of which traced back to the early 1900s. He emphasised the significance of involving patent professionals and provided comprehensive insights on various aspects of patents, including their definition, the protection they offer to owners, the essential components of patent applications, effective strategies for writing patent applications, and the role of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT).

Additionally, Koren shed light on the cost considerations associated with patent applications and offered valuable guidance on conducting prior patent searches to ensure innovation is not already protected. The diverse audience present for the session included business owners, innovators, individuals, and organisational leaders, making it a dynamic gathering of like-minded individuals passionate about leveraging patents for business growth and the protection of intellectual property rights.
