Tech Expo 2026, powered by A Rocha Ghana and organized by the Academic City Robotics Club in collaboration with Academic City University and its partners, marked five years of student-led innovation.

Under the theme “Tech Expo @5: Innovating to Reverse the Effects of Galamsey and Restore the Earth,” the event brought together more than 400 participants from across Ghana to explore technological solutions to illegal mining.

The expo featured a panel discussion on reclaiming the environment through collaboration between government, industry, youth, and technology. Speakers included Kenneth Ashigbey, CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, as well as environmental and sustainability professionals.

A key highlight was the Exhibition Challenge, where 21 teams from senior high schools and universities presented solutions in areas such as water purification, reforestation, and land restoration.

In the university category, Ghana Communication Technology University won first and second place, followed by Kumasi Technical University. In the senior high school category, Achimota School placed first, with Akosombo International School and Amaniampong Senior High School taking second and third place.

More than a competition, Tech Expo 2026 highlighted how young innovators are using technology to address one of Ghana’s most pressing environmental challenges.
