School Desk Project (Madina Lorry Station Advocacy)
The Technology and Entrepreneurship Center (TEC), in collaboration with Mackingtorch Africa, led a plastic recycling advocacy campaign at Madina Lorry Station on February 22, 2025. This initiative, spearheaded by students from Academic City University, aimed to educate traders, commuters, and transport operators on responsible plastic waste management and recycling practices.
Volunteers engaged the public in interactive discussions, highlighting the environmental impact of plastic waste and demonstrating proper disposal and recycling techniques. Additionally, plastic bottles and polythene bags were collected and sorted, reinforcing the campaign’s message through action.
The advocacy effort reached a significant number of individuals, fostering greater awareness and interest in sustainable waste management. Encouragingly, lorry station officials expressed a willingness to adopt better recycling practices, marking a step forward in community-driven environmental responsibility.
