Highlights from the Safety Hackathon 2024
The Safety Hackathon, held on , 2024, at TEC, focused on addressing cyberbullying and sextortion with the theme “Securing The Digital Frontier: Call for Technical Solutions.” The event featured both in-person and online participation, with students from various schools, including Academic City University, presenting innovative digital safety projects.
A standout project, Cipher, developed by Academic City students, introduced an app extension using end-to-end encryption, AI-driven image protection, and digital footprint tracking to enhance media security.
The event concluded with expert feedback from Ghana Safety leaders and judges, highlighting the participants’ strengths and offering valuable improvements. The hackathon was a successful platform for promoting digital safety innovation.
